COURSE GLOSSARY

acknowledge: say or do something to show another person you have heard and understood his communication.

bound: restricted by a particular rule or agreement and required to do what it says.

casual: informal, relaxed or done without much thought or effort.

chattering: talking rapidly and informally about unimportant things.

component: one of the parts or qualities that fits together with others to make a whole. Literally, a component is one of the pieces in a machine.

concluded: finished or brought to an end.

disregard: pay no attention to something.

expression: a look on someone’s face that shows what he is feeling or thinking.

law: a general rule that explains how something works or happens.

master: learn how to do something well.

nod: move one’s head quickly downward and upward, usually as a sign that one agrees with, recognizes or accepts something or someone.

phrase: a group of words that are used together.

recorded: written down so it can be read in the future.

resume: begin or continue doing something again after a pause or interruption.

role: the function or purpose that a person has in a particular situation or activity.

route: a course of action. Literally, a route is the course along which someone or something travels.

satisfaction: a feeling of being happy or pleased about something.

satisfied: happy or pleased about something because it is what one wanted.

startled: very surprised by something.

tool: something that is used to help someone do or achieve something.

yakking: talking persistently and meaninglessly.
