How to Make a Person Sober
This assist can make a drunk person sober in a very few minutes.
PROCEDURE:
1. Tell the drunk person you are going to give him an assist. Briefly explain that you will be pointing out things in the room or area you are in and asking him to look at them:
“I am going to be asking you, over and over, to look at various objects around here. I will point to the object when I tell you to look at it.”
2. Point to the object and tell the drunk person:
“Look at that ______ (room object).”
Be comfortably present and don’t try to avoid the drunk person as you do this. A drunk is usually considered somewhat hard to face. He himself certainly cannot face up to anything. One thing he cannot face is an empty glass. He always refills it if it is empty.
3. When the person has done the command, acknowledge him by saying: “Thank you” or “Okay” or “Good.”
4. Repeat the command, each time pointing out a room object and acknowledging the person.
5. Do not get distracted into answering the frequent comment from the person of
DO NOT EVER GET ANGRY WITH OR STRIKE A DRUNK PERSON, NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO.
6. Continue as often as needed until the person is sober. When the person is sober say:
“End of assist.”
